Round up of  Term 3 week 1

Hi All

We had a wonderful first week back--our 2 New Entrants Luciano and Molly settled happily into Room 1. This week we welcome Grace Powick who was too sick to start school last week and Louisa Ross starts on Friday. 

Here is our class minus Zoe Elise who happened to be in the sick bay! 

  

Our Religious Education topic for the first 5 weeks is looking at Holy Things and Holy places. With Liz Hooker they went around the school looking for things that reminded them of God  the above photos reflect this. 

The school wide topic for the first two weeks is a Maori unit. In the Rutherford team each teacher took a different aspect. In Room 1 we are learning numbers and colours. On Friday the children spent  a fun time with Mrs O'Neill  using Rakau --sticks. Colleen did take a video of some of it--we are still trying to work out how to share this with you all. 

Tomorrow they will visit Rm 12 and on Wednesday they will visit Rm 11. 

Then of course we finish the unit with the Hangi on Friday---just a reminder your orders for the Hangi need to be in by tomorrow!

Term 3

Hi All

I do hope you all had a relaxing break---we certainly had beautiful weather. 

For one of our maths lessons based on Statistics--Liz Hooker brought in marsh mellows. You can see by the faces how popular this lesson was. 

As you all know we said 'goodbye'  to Archie, Jyla-ash, Preston, Peter and Reuben on the last day of Term 2. Tomorrow we will be joined by Miss Lydia Tisch a  3rd year Teachers College student here for her last placement. She will be with us for 5 weeks. 

We will also welcome 3  New Entrants and their families on Monday and Tuesday of this week. Luciano starts on Monday. On Tuesday Grace and Molly begin.
