Round up of Term 2 week 4

Hi Everyone

We certainly had a mixed bag with the weather. For  me it was the second weekend in a row that I did not have netball--unheard of!!!!! Though it was only the Future Ferns and the Under 11s and 12s that were cancelled on Saturday. We play between 8.30 am  and and 9.30 am so it was the coldest part of the day.

Even last week with the intrepid weather we still managed to get outside for PE and daily Fitness.

Here the children are playing a game called Space Invaders.

Finn and Malia playing 'Domes and Dishes'.
Playing 'Creep Up". Fitness activity with Miss Duffell.
Archie's competitive side emerging. He is playing 'Domes and Dishes'.
This week we have two Pre Entry visits. On Monday Ethan O'Neill will have his first visit and on Tuesday Zoe Dunning will have her last visit.
On Tuesday Liz Hooker will be teaching as I will be having a classroom release day. On Wednesday when Liz is teaching Julia from 'Cherry's Pre School' will be visiting Room 1. She wants to observe our morning programme.

Tomorrow I will send home a paper copy with information about our Rutherford team trip to the Art Gallery. To tie in with our Arts topic for this term on Friday afternoon we have the Court Theatre visiting us. On that day Assembly will be held just before lunch--watch for more information to come.

Kind regards
Mary

Reuben is telling us the song that his group is about to perform--'Old Mc Donald
Jyla is counting the beat to start their song.

 Hi Every-one
I just can't seem to get the photos to go in the right order this week!!

We had a brilliant start to the week with Catholic Schools day on Monday.  From talking to the children they really enjoyed performing the welcome song 'E Te Eriki' for St Bernadettes.

Preston working with his buddy from St Bernadettes.

The children are colouring in petals to go on the big flower that we were making with St Bernadettes New Entrants.

As I mentioned in the Term 2 newsletter--Music is our topic. The photos of Tom and Carter were taken last week. One of the room 2 mums brought in her saxophone. The ones with the children in groups were taken today.

Next week is a normal week!

Kind regards
Mary

Round up of Term 2 week 2

Hi Every-one

What a lovely weekend! I hope you all have enjoyed browsing through your child's publishing book, particularly seeing the evidence of the progress that they have made since starting school.

In the week just gone we spent an enjoyable time working on body percussion and beat. We had fun on Monday experiencing 'Going on a Bear Hunt' as a sound word experiment. [so much that I didn't have time to take any photos!]

In Religious  Education we are learning about the Holy Spirit. With Mrs Hooker they all made a stool to represent the 'Trinity'--God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

Tom and Preston with their stools.

Reuben, Archie and Carter.

Peter, Finn and Leo

Zoe, Jyla and Lucy.
This week; Monday is Catholic Schools Day--we will be hosting St Bernadettes. The children are to come in full school uniform. [No sports uniform is needed]
On Wednesday  Rutherford team students [our children] will attend the 'Natural Magic Pirates Show' in the afternoon.
On Friday we will attend Mass with Room 2. This is another day that we ask the children come to school in full school uniform. [no sports uniform needed]. After mass Father Kevin will come and talk to the children. You are all very welcome to come and attend mass with us!

Kind regards
Mary

Update of Term 2 week 1

Last week saw the children race in the school Cross Country. I am sure those who were there would have been just as proud as I was of their behaviour and especially participation in the event! They had to wait such a long time and when it was their turn they just went for it!! [many thanks to Liz Hooker for providing the photos]

Finn in his stride.

Jyla on the run.

Lucy striding it out

Our two new entrants Zoe and Malia.

Preston in the lead.
Leo our other new entrant putting in a lot of effort.
